Carol Hinz at Lerner/Carolrhoda has acquired world rights to What Sparks a Fire? by Livia Blackburne (l.), illustrated by Nicole Xu. This nonfiction picture book chronicles the forces that brought about the Los Angeles Massacre of 1871, a brutal attack on the city’s Chinese immigrant community. Jim McCarthy at Dystel, Goderich & Bourret represented the author, and Kelly Pelsue at Morgan Gaynin represented the illustrator.
