Casual visits are virtual Q&A sessions for which I do no preparation. We just chat.
Cost – $150 for a thirty minute session and $75 for each additional half hour.

This is a visit in which I present prepared material or teach a class. This includes typical school visits where I present about my book, lead activities, and do a Q&A.

Available Presentations
Tall Tales New and Old (Elementary, 30 - 45 minutes):
Livia shares how one sentence in a history book inspired Julia Kuo and her to write a tall tale about Ah Bing, the Chinese immigrant behind the Bing Cherry. After taking students through her creative process, she leads them in creating their own tall tales.
Length: 30-45 min
Target age: elementary students
Stories, Loved Ones, and Heritage (Elementary plus, 30 - 45 minutes):
Livia starts off with a reading from her picture book I Dream of Popo. After that, she shares her own immigration story from Taiwan and describes how her own history inspired the picture book, as well as how the story went from idea to published book. Afterwards, she leads the students in an optional activity to tell and share their own stories about time spent with loved ones.
Length: 30-45 min
Target age: The book is targeted toward students age 4-8, but Livia has presented this successfully in classrooms in grades 1-5, as well as in special presentations to adults.
A Writer’s Journey (All Ages, 30 - 45 minutes):
Livia shares the story of how she became a writer, shedding light on the publishing industry while also drawing general life lessons that are applicable to both writers and non-writers. Length: 30-45 min
Target age: This talk is tailored for the general public, from teenagers to adults.
Creative Writing Craft (Middle and High School, 30 minutes):
Livia teaches writing craft workshops on topics ranging from idea generation, plot development, character development, to revision. The lesson plans and slides from these talks are available for purchase on Teachers Pay Teachers for educators to incorporate into their own lesson plans.
